Woody Island Movie Synopsis

Ronnie Sheppard is shipwrecked in the sleepy coastal town of Esperance. He lives with his mum, his friends have left for the city, and he struggles through his job at a tourist business running charters through the archipelago to thepicturesque Woody Island.

Fate finds Ronnie stranded on the island for a long weekend with an unlikely group of campers. Tegan is travelling around the country incognito after a messy and publicised breakup with her soap-star boyfriend. Gerard is a charismatic Frenchman she met on the Nullarbor, and awaiting them is the introverted and unstable island caretaker Kevin.

While the campers are busy with beaches and barbecues, a reclusive Ronnie bunkers down in his tent hoping the weekend passes as swiftly as possible.

That is until something unexpected happens. Ronnie’s not sure what it is, or who’s behind it, but it’s left to he and heartbroken Tegan to figure things out.

As the unlikely pair head across the rugged island the true nature of their isolation becomes apparent.

Full of mystery, angst and breathtaking scenery, Woody Island emerges in the great tradition of Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock and Michelangelo Antonioni’s L’avventura.
