Recycle Regatta - CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN

regatta_team
Powerplant Motorcycles's Tim Hawkey and his staff ponder how to build their land yacht for the Recycle Regatta.

HOW DISAPPOINTING - Due to the high rainfall we have received in the last 48 hours we have had to make a decision to cancel the Regatta as there is now no chance the lake will dry out in time to have the event on Saturday or Sunday this week.

Chook and the PLFB guys have put so much work into making this event happen so perhaps it will get up on an informal basis a little down the track.

Not on the water!! Just for something completely different we're having a land yacht sailing regatta!

Saturday 19th March from 11:30am at Pink Lake. Entry at junction of Pink Lake Road and Pink Lake Drive. Parking marshalls will direct you, sausage sizzle and drinks available. Bring your own shade if possible (limited shade provided)

Called the Recycle Regatta for a very good reason - it must be constructed using a set percentage of recycled or salvaged materials.

Join our Recycle Regatta

Businesses, service organisations, community groups and groups of mates are encouraged to build and enter their land yacht and compete in the first Esperance Recycle Regatta.

There are different categories depending on the percentage of recycled material you use and age groups of entrants.

The Pink Lake Fire Brigade Land Yachts

Pink Lake Fire Brigade have constructed some spare yachts which will be available to anyone who wants to use them (first in, best dressed). Contact Chook Henderson on 9071 6469 for further details.

Download plans to help with building your land yacht at: http://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Land-Yacht-Sailing/Construction/Build-a-Landyacht-Lake-Lefroy-Mini-Yacht/

Late entries will be accepted on the day, however early notice is preferred to assist with our planning.

Thanks to Kath Little from Esperance Shire and Stephen Butler from DEC for their assistance in resolving logistical and environmental issues with the event. How lucky are we to live in a community where everyone works together to make things happen!
